My life as a published poet began in 2007 when I won the grand prize in Writer’s Digest 2nd Annual Poetry award.  Since then, I found and studied under a wonderful mentor, poet Andrea Hollander, (who just won a Pushcart Prize this year!) have been published by many other print and online journals, won 2nd place and 3rd place in Spark, a Creative Anthology’s Contest Two and Four, read my poetry on WLRN, South Florida’s NPR news station and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize myself!  My first chapbook, Shining from a Different Firmament, was published in 2015 by Finishing Line Press. It was also a finalist in a Minerva Rising Press chapbook contest.

By day I am a university reference librarian, but find myself “continually assaulted by poetry,” as Jorge Luis Borges put it. In May, I was the featured writer at the Latina Book Club blog’s Writers’ Wednesdays monthly column.  I live by a lake with three cats who do not help in my writing at all, and a wonderful astronomer husband who does:  he is my first reader.
